As a verb, the word craft means to exercise skill in making something. Whatever we make- a piece of art, a meal, a marriage, a family, a piece of music... if we do it with care, love and presence, we can create something truly beautiful.
We can derive great power by consciously crafting our lives- through our thoughts, our words, and our actions- and through the application of arts and crafts of all kinds. As beings we can make a difference in our lives, our homes, and our world by shifting thoughts, words and actions, and by actively creating love and beauty.
It struck us recently that as a noun, craft may also be defined as a boat or ship, a vessel that can carry one on a journey. The crafts we provide may then become vessels of discovery, and insights gleaned along the way are as valuable, if not more so, than the finished product. The completed piece, made more meaningful by the process of its making, becomes a treasured keepsake, talisman or tool for our lives to come.
